A preventive examination of the oral cavity is an examination of the mucous membrane on the inner surface of the cheeks. Diagnosis of the color, consistency and amount of saliva, as well as the nature of the bite (ratio of the tooth rows).
The next stage is the diagnosis of the condition of the gums and tongue. Their color should normally be pale pink, and the surface should be smooth, without ulcers and damage. The dentist will determine the appearance of pathological changes in the gums, as well as the presence and depth of periodontal pockets. Special attention is paid to complaints of increased sensitivity of the tongue and pain.
